A snake chain moves differently. There are no open links, so it does not catch light in the same broken way a paperclip or cable chain does. It lies flat, it drapes rather than hangs, and it slides against itself instead of stacking. That is the whole reason to choose this one over the link version.
It also converts five ways. Magnetic closure, 28.5 inches, 2.5 millimeter gauge. Long, doubled to a choker, wrapped four times on a wrist, clipped to your glasses, or holding your earbuds.
Gold plated brass, nickel free. It ships on a printed card with every configuration on the back.
What a Snake Chain Actually Is
The links are cupped plates set edge to edge, which produces a continuous rounded surface with no gaps. There is nothing to snag on a sweater and nothing to pinch. It is also why the drape reads as liquid rather than segmented, and why the doubled length sits flatter at the throat than a link chain would.
The tradeoff worth knowing before you order: a smooth chain has less friction, so the wrap configurations rely on the magnet holding rather than the links gripping each other. That is fine in practice and it is why the closure on this piece is stronger than the one on our link styles.
Five Ways to Wear a Snake Chain Necklace
Long Necklace
28.5 inches worn full length, resting below the sternum. The uninterrupted surface means this reads cleanest of the three convertible styles when worn plain.
Choker
Folded once for two loops of roughly 14 inches. Snake chain doubled sits closer to the skin than a link chain at the same measurement, which is the reason people who dislike chokers tend to make an exception for this one.
Bracelet Wrap
Four passes around a standard wrist. The smooth profile means the wraps sit flush against each other rather than stacking with gaps.
Eyeglass Chain
Silicone loops slide onto the temple arms of any frame, prescription or sun. The rounded chain surface will not catch on hair the way an open link chain can when your glasses come off.
Earbud Holder
Connectors clip to your earbuds or AirPods case. They stay close through a commute or a workout instead of ending up on the floor of a train.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will 28.5 inches be too long on me?
Worn full length it sits below the sternum on most adults, which is longer than a standard necklace and intentional, since the length is what makes the other four configurations possible. Folded once you get roughly 14 inches per loop for the choker. If you want it mainly as a bracelet, four wraps fits a wrist up to about 7 inches.
Is snake chain more fragile than a link chain?
It is more particular rather than more fragile. Snake chain does not like sharp bends, so it should be stored coiled or hanging rather than folded into a corner of a drawer, and it should not be yanked. Treated normally it outlasts link chains of the same gauge because there are no individual links to open under stress.
Does it pull hair?
Less than a link chain. The surface is continuous with no gaps between links, which is the specific problem that causes hair to catch and pinch on cable and paperclip styles. This matters most in the eyeglass configuration, where the chain sits at the back of the neck and moves every time your glasses come off.
Snake chain or paperclip, which should I choose?
Snake if you want something smooth that disappears into an outfit and drapes flat, especially if you wear high necklines or layer under collars. Paperclip if you want the chain to read as a visible design element with texture and shine breaks. Both convert the same five ways and both are the same length.
How should I store it?
Coiled loosely in its pouch or hanging, never folded or crammed. That is the one storage rule that actually matters for this construction. Beyond that, jewelry goes on after lotion and perfume and comes off before the shower, the pool, and the gym.
Is this a good gift if I do not know her style?
It is the safest of our convertible chains for exactly that reason. Smooth gold reads neutral across almost every wardrobe, the length is adjustable through the configurations rather than fixed, and the card explains all five ways so she does not need instructions from you. Gift wrapping is complimentary, leave a note at checkout.
Who should not buy this?
Not for anyone with a pacemaker or an implanted cardiac device, because of the magnetic closure. Not for children under five, because of the small parts. And if you tend to store jewelry in a pile rather than a pouch, a link chain will forgive that treatment better than this one will.
Why Camille Jewelry
The snake chain came third. The link versions were easier to source and easier to assemble, and this one required a different clasp spec because a smooth chain behaves differently under tension. It is the one I reach for.

Made to Wear Every Day
Twenty years designing fine jewelry in New York taught me one thing. The pieces women keep are the ones they forget they are wearing.
So that is what I design for now, under my own name. Jewelry that goes on in the morning and stays on, through work, the gym, and everything after.
It shows up in the details. Proportions that sit right. Clasps and mechanisms that work the first time and the hundredth. Nothing that digs in at the back of your neck.
Gold or silver plated thick over jeweler's brass. Not gold filled, not solid gold, and priced accordingly. This is the tier where the design does the work, not the metal.
Jewelry you put on and keep on.

Materials & Quality
Gold or silver plated thick over jeweler's brass, nickel and lead free. Not gold filled, not solid gold, and priced for the fashion tier, where the design does the work rather than the metal.
Plating wears. Everyone's does. What changes is how long it takes, and that part is mostly up to you. Because the gold and silver here sit thick over jeweler's brass, there is real material to work with before anything shows through. Look after it and you get years out of it.
This is the tier where care actually makes a difference:
- Water is the one that matters. Off before the pool, the ocean, the shower, and the gym.
- Lotion and perfume first, jewelry last.
- A soft cloth is all it needs. Silver cloths, dips, and ultrasonics all strip plating.
- Store it dry and in its pouch.
