Some necklaces ask to be saved for an occasion. This one was made to leave the box.

A close sitting collar of real freshwater pearls, each one a generous 15mm, brought into balance by three sphere beads in 14K gold filled at the center. The pearls carry their own quiet luster, the kind that shifts with the light and never reads flat. The gold filled spheres give the piece weight and intention, a clear focal point that keeps the design from feeling like a simple strand.

Pearl Collar Necklace Built for a Real Jewelry Wardrobe

Some pearl necklaces sit in a box waiting for the right occasion. This one was designed for every day in between.

This freshwater pearl collar necklace is designed for the woman who builds her jewelry wardrobe with intention and wants a pearl piece that is actually worn rather than preserved. Every pearl is hand knotted on silk thread, the traditional construction method that protects each stone from rubbing its neighbor, keeps the strand draping softly against the neck, and secures every pearl individually. At 15 to 16mm each, these are generous sized freshwater pearls with the kind of natural luster that shifts with the light and reads differently every time you put it on. Available in 15.5 or 18 inches with a magnetic gold plated stainless steel clasp that fastens and releases in one motion. Part of our gold filled jewelry collection, built for women who want heirloom construction with the durability to wear it every day.

How These Wear in a Jewelry Wardrobe

This pearl collar necklace is built to work alongside the rest of what you wear. At 15.5 inches it sits close to the neck as a true collar, framing a bare neckline or contrasting above a collared shirt. At 18 inches it settles at the base of the neck, the length that works with everything from a knit to a blazer to linen on a warm evening. Wear it alone as the whole point of the outfit, or pair it with simple gold studs and plain rings so the pearls can read clearly. This is what a considered jewelry wardrobe looks like, one piece you reach for again and again because it belongs with everything you already own.

FAQ SECTION

Q: Are the pearls in this collar necklace real?

A: Yes, every pearl in this collar necklace is a genuine freshwater pearl, hand selected at approximately 15mm for a full, rounded presence. Natural pearls carry slight variations in shape and surface, which is the signature of the real thing rather than a flaw.

Q: What does hand knotting on silk thread mean for this necklace?

A: Hand knotting is the traditional construction method for fine pearl necklaces. Each knot separates and protects every pearl from rubbing against its neighbor, keeps the strand draping softly, and secures every pearl individually so they stay in place even if the thread is ever compromised. It is a slower, more careful way to build a piece and unmistakable to wear.

Q: What is the difference between 15.5 inches and 18 inches for this pearl collar necklace?

A: At 15.5 inches the necklace sits close to the neck as a true collar, which frames a bare neckline or contrasts above a collared shirt. At 18 inches it settles at the base of the neck, the length that works with a wider range of necklines and layers more easily with other pieces.

Q: Will the magnetic clasp hold a pearl necklace this substantial?

A: Yes. The magnetic clasp is engineered to hold firmly through everyday wear and movement. It connects with a single firm hold and only releases when you separate it intentionally, which makes it both more secure and easier to fasten than a traditional spring ring clasp.

Q: How do I care for this freshwater pearl collar necklace?

A: Wipe the pearls and gold filled beads with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Keep the necklace away from perfume, lotion, and water, and store it flat or hanging so the silk thread keeps its shape. Pearls are best put on last and taken off first.

Q:  Are these a good gift for someone who loves fine jewelry?

A: Yes. A hand knotted freshwater pearl collar necklace is one of the most considered gifts you can give because the construction tells the story before the pearls do. A woman who knows fine jewelry will recognize the silk knotting, the 15mm pearl size, and the gold filled beads immediately, and the magnetic clasp means she will actually wear it rather than save it.

Twenty years designing jewelry in New York. I helped launch the jewelry division at Michael Kors and designed within Giorgio Armani.

Now I design under my own name, for the way women actually wear jewelry. On, all day, without thinking about it.

That shows up in the details. Proportions that feel right on. Settings that sit low so nothing catches. Materials that hold up to real life.

.925 sterling silver, precious metal all the way through. The vermeil is a thick layer of 14K gold over that same sterling core, never brass. Made in small batches between New York City and Philadelphia.

Jewelry you put on and keep on.

Care & Durability

Gold filled is not plating. A layer of 14K gold is bonded to the core under heat and pressure, and by weight that layer is at least one twentieth of the piece. Roughly a hundred times the gold of standard plating. It does not flake and it does not peel.

What it does react to is everything you put on before it. Perfume, lotion, hairspray, chlorine. Not the gold, the surface film those leave behind, which is what dulls a piece and makes people think it wore off.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Wipe it with a soft cloth after wear. That is most of the job.
  • Skip the silver polishing cloth. Those are abrasive and gold filled does not need them.
  • Warm water and mild soap when it wants a refresh. The ultrasonic is the one to skip.
  • Happier out of the pool, the ocean, and the shower.
  • Lotion and perfume first, jewelry last.
  • The pouch keeps it from rubbing against everything else in the drawer.

Materials & Quality

14K gold filled. The gold is bonded to the core under heat and pressure rather than sprayed on, and by weight it makes up at least 5 percent of the piece. Roughly a hundred times what plating carries.

Thickness is the whole argument. Plated jewelry gives out at the clasp and the high points first, usually inside a season. I use gold filled on the pieces that move, chains and connectors, anything that spends the day shifting against a collar. What sits on your skin is 14K gold.

Every piece here is designed to the same standard as my fine jewelry. Same proportions, same attention to how a piece moves and sits, same person deciding. The material is the only thing that changes.

That is deliberate. These are meant to be worn with solid gold, not instead of it. Layer them together and nothing looks like it came from a different shelf.

Made in small batches between New York City and Philadelphia.
